About the Department
The Digital Workplace Engineering team is a key part of the Digital Workplace Services. They work across the Group COO, business stakeholders, Centers of Excellence, and Product Owners to create and deliver the Digital Workplace technology roadmap, maintaining a modern, secure, and cost-efficient service. The team is passionate about enhancing colleague experience and delivering an evergreen service.
About the Role
The Digital Workplace Engineer will work within a cross-functional team, focusing on improving our Digital Workplace Technology, especially End User Compute. This hands-on role requires experience in design and administration of Intune, Entra, Windows Desktop, and core infrastructure services.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and manage changes across Aberdeen’s EUC/Desktop estate.
- Ensure stability and security of the EUC environment through effective assurance and assessment of Windows desktop, Microsoft M365 tenant, and third-party software.
- Collaborate with operational teams to proactively improve services.
- Drive adoption of Microsoft services, reviewing usage and telemetry data.
- Enhance CIS and Secure Scores through core controls and activities.
- Focus on FinOps by creating visibility around EUS costs, identifying savings, and managing budgets with appropriate controls.
- Contribute to the EUC roadmap and backlog delivery.
- Respond to audits related to regulatory requirements and manage RCSA controls.
- Participate in resolving outages, troubleshooting, and capacity planning.
- Create and communicate knowledgebase articles, monitor technology trends, and seek continuous improvement opportunities.
- Implement and mature controls for Windows OS and M365 evergreen changes, aligning with Aberdeen’s risk framework and regulatory requirements.
- Focus on desktop security, reducing attack surfaces, and implementing hardening techniques like CIS.
About the Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
- Significant experience supporting or managing IT systems and platforms.
- Experience with digital employee experience tools, endpoint management, analytics, and automation.
- Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and manage priorities.
- Proficiency in an ITIL environment.
- Experience with continuous engineering and agile methodologies.
- Ability to leverage automation and AI/ML for improvement.
Technical Skills:
- Proven track record with EUC and Windows Desktop technologies, with recent certifications.
- Experience with Intune, SCCM, Entra ID, Active Directory, Group Policy.
- Experience deploying evergreen OS and M365 updates, Autopilot at scale.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Defender security tools.
- Experience with application provisioning via Intune, SCCM, Azure, and App Attach.
- Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop and Nerdio.
- Knowledge of zero trust security initiatives.
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting.
- Experience with desktop virtualization.
