Abrams Chronicle Books is the UK sales arm of two renowned US publishing houses: ABRAMS in New York and Chronicle Books in San Francisco. Based near Smithfield Market in London, we represent a broad and award-winning range of books, gifts, games and stationery.

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and organised individual to join our dynamic sales team on a full-time basis as Gift & Special Sales Director. The Gift & Special Sales Director will play a pivotal role in our business. This role focuses on nurturing and growing our relationships with our key gift accounts while also shaping and advancing our strategy for gift sales across the business. Working closely with the sales team and our publishing partners, you will ensure that our book and gift products receive strong representation and support in the market.

This position is perfect for someone who has a track record of special sales in the UK market, thrives in a fast-paced, varied environment and enjoys being part of a proactive, successful team.

The publishers we represent include: Abrams, Chronicle Books, Galison, Mudpuppy, Ridley’s, Brass Monkey, Petit Collage, Batsford, Magic Cat, Flying Eye and the V&A with licenses such as Liberty, LEGO, Andy Warhol, Studio Ghibli, William Morris and more.

Reports to: UK & Export Sales Director

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the special sales strategy across the UK market, working closely with the UK & Export Sales Director and our publishing partners to develop and implement plans for our products across all channels
  • Manage and grow key accounts in the UK gift sector, including Waterstones RP, John Lewis, Oliver Bonas, Liberty, Urban Outfitters, and supermarkets
  • Create and deliver compelling sales pitches and presentations
  • Lead the UK Gift team, incl 6 freelance agents, giving direction with online accounts, trade shows, subscription boxes, specialist accounts, A&CB website etc
  • Oversee new business development and assign new accounts across the whole sales team
  • Provide regular feedback and insights on account performance and emerging market trends
  • Working closely with the Operations team to ensure optimal stock levels
  • Participate in internal and external meetings, including key publisher meetings
  • Represent the company at trade shows and industry events
  • Lead the special sales strategy across the UK market, working closely with the UK & Export Sales Director and our publishing partners to develop and implement plans for our gift ranges across all channels.
