Your Role

The Dean Trust is seeking to appoint a talented and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join our dedicated team at Abraham Moss Community School, Crescent Road, Crumpsall, Manchester, M8 5UF.

The core purpose of the role will be to supervise and lead lessons across different subject areas during the absence of teachers. The role will ensure that progress in pupil learning is maximised during any absence through maintaining an atmosphere in the classroom which is conducive of effective learning. The job will demand flexibility and adaptability to meet the school's needs as required. Teaching will cover Years 7 to 11.

Key responsibilities:

  1. To work closely with the Cover Supervisor Manager to ensure all classes have appropriate daily cover
  2. To ensure the school's teaching and learning and lesson protocols are followed in all cover lessons and that pupils settle quickly in their learning activities
  3. To ensure pupils follow set activities and lesson plans provided, and are given appropriate support and guidance to move them on in their learning
  4. To manage the behaviour of pupils in lessons and report any behaviour issues following the school's procedure

Qualifications

  • GCSE Maths and English grade 4-9 (A-C) or equivalent essential
  • Degree or equivalent qualification desirable
  • Qualified Teacher Status desirable

Abilities, Skills and Knowledge

  • Full working knowledge of the National Curriculum requirements for their associated subject essential

Experience

  • Enthusiastic and excellent classroom practitioner, to be able to teach their associated subject up to GCSE standard essential

  • Ability to work effectively with pupils, staff, parents and members of the community essential
  • Unwavering commitment to improving the life-chances of young people essential
  • Willingness and ability to work co-operatively as part of a team and self-motivate when working independently essential
