The Farmer Engagement lead is responsible for recruiting farmers into farming and agricultural projects, building strong relationships with farm businesses, and ensuring clear, consistent communication between farmers and ABP. The role acts as the primary point of contact for participating farms, supporting, recruiting and onboarding farmers into farming, environmental, or agricultural projects.
Responsibilities
- Build positive, trusted relationships with farmers and farm managers through regular on-farm engagement.
- Act as the main point of contact for farmers, ensuring they are well informed, supported, and engaged.
- Clearly communicate project aims, requirements, timelines, and expectations to participating farms.
- Support farmers with project participation, data collection, paperwork, and practical queries.
- Organise and attend farm visits, meetings, and events.
- Promote best practice and encourage ongoing participation and collaboration.
- Maintain accurate records of farm engagement, communications, and project involvement.
Qualifications
- Practical experience working within the cattle industry (beef and/or dairy).
- Strong understanding of cattle production systems, animal health, welfare, and farm sustainability.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Confidence engaging with farmers in a field-based environment.
- Ability to explain projects and technical information clearly and practically.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
