ROLE DEFINITION:
Responsible for supervising the day-to-day storage, stock control and despatch of ABP Penston product held at an external storage facility.
The role will act as the key operational link between the external facility and ABP Penston, ensuring stock is accurately controlled, fully traceable, correctly rotated and despatched in line with operational, customer, food safety and legal requirements.
The Supervisor will ensure effective communication between the external facility and ABP Penston and provide timely escalation of any issues affecting stock integrity, availability or customer service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise the daily intake, storage, stock movement and despatch of ABP product.
- Maintain accurate stock records and ensure full traceability from receipt through to despatch.
- Ensure effective stock rotation and appropriate utilisation of storage locations.
- Complete regular stock checks, investigate discrepancies and carry out unresolved variances.
- Ensure despatches and associated documentation are accurate and completed in line with operational requirements.
- Act as the key day-to-day contact between the external facility and ABP Penston for stock and despatch activity.
- Communicate shortages, delays, discrepancies, damaged stock and other operational risks promptly.
- Coordinate daily workload and ensure appropriate standards of performance, training and competency are maintained.
- Ensure ABP procedures relating to stock handling, food safety, quality, Health & Safety and security are followed.
- Work closely with Planning, Operations, Technical and other relevant functions to ensure stock availability and operational requirements are achieved.
- Maintain accurate daily reporting and provide effective handover of outstanding issues and actions.
- Identify and support opportunities to improve stock accuracy, efficiency, space utilisation and despatch processes.
- Challenge unnecessary double handling, waste and recurring process issues.
- Support investigations relating to stock discrepancies, traceability, product integrity or operational compliance.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties appropriate to the role.
PERSONAL SPECIFICATION:
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Previous experience within despatch, warehousing, logistics, cold storage or stock control.
- Experience supervising or coordinating employees within an operational environment.
- Good understanding of stock control, traceability and inventory management.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Good numerical ability and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across internal teams and external service providers.
- Competent in the use of stock management systems and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work independently and maintain ABP operational standards within an external facility.
- Strong commitment to Health & Safety, food safety, quality and customer service.
- Previous food manufacturing or red-meat industry experience.
- Coldstore or third-party logistics experience.
- HACCP/Food Safety training.
- Experience of continuous improvement within a warehouse or logistics environment.
