Role Definition: You will be operating as part of our dynamic and fast-paced Digital Workplace Team, where your role will be instrumental in championing a user-centric approach to IT services. Working closely with the IT Operations team across multiple sites in both an office and production setting. Your primary objective will be to maintain, strengthen, and update business IT systems and services across ABP UK to meet our standards of excellence within the Digital Workplace framework. Your responsibilities will extend to supporting site teams and helping deliver operational initiatives across ABP UK. You will get exposure to Major Incidents and see first-hand how our teams come together to resolve these.
Key responsibilities:
- Work as part of the Digital Workplace team with responsibility for the day-to-day application of the Operational activities.
- Work with the Operations Manager to define objectives related to your assigned responsibilities.
- Be part of the Risk Management Team to identify Operational Risks to the business and work to mitigate them.
- Work with the Operations Manager to Improve & Manage: Capacity Management, Monitoring, Disaster Recovery, Server & Application Patching, Preventative Maintenance, Site & Process Documentation, Risk Management, Networking Standardisation.
- Own Incidents to ensure that they are resolved to the user's satisfaction & done in line with the time scales set.
- Work with relevant teams to resolve Service Requests in a timely manner and transfer knowledge.
- Work with other Digital Workplace Engineers on Major Incidents to resolve and bring services back online.
- Provide analytics for use of Problem Investigations & Management Information as required.
- Provide on-site assistance to sites for installations, configuration and decommissions.
- Input into documentation held in the IT & End User Knowledge Base.
- Creation of relevant documentation to support the Digital Workplace Team.
- Provide support to Agile initiatives as part of the Resource Pool.
- Perform Site Improvement Assessments to identify areas of IT Improvement & investment.
- Undertake Business Impact Assessments for sites to identify risks.
- Maintain and Manage the cloud solutions we migrate our services to the Azure Platform.
Personal specifications:
- You will be proactive, dynamic, motivational, collaborative and able to deliver results in a constantly changing environment.
- This role is practical and hands on, often requiring travel and work in live production areas.
- A self-starter, possessing strong planning and organisational skills along with the ability to be adaptable/flexible to changing business demands.
- Willingness to learn new skills, from basic troubleshooting to advanced technical skills.
- Good Communication Skills allowing you to communicate with multiple stakeholders, from factory floor to VIP.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 and productivity tools suite.
- Good general IT awareness.
- Some awareness of switching & networking technologies and, ideally some command line experience would be an advantage.
- An understanding of cloud virtualisation technologies would be an advantage.
- Theoretical understanding of the concepts of network management practices & tools including Active Directory, DHCP, DNS and Patch Management.
- A drive to improve yourself and processes to better the business.
- Ability to challenge 'The Norm' and think of innovative ways to improve services while working within the constraints of change management.
- Good level of analytical and technical skill is required, which must be demonstrable through practical experience and evidence.
