The role involves managing the team of collection centre managers who are working onsite in the collection centre on a weekly basis, managing the throughput of calves from dairy farmers and hauliers. It includes framing and supporting feedback to calf suppliers and ensuring high welfare standards are met. The manager will also oversee the team when they are not in the collection centre to prepare for the following week by taking bookings and visiting suppliers in the region. Managing on-farm software throughout this whole process is key, so experience in using farm management software is required.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Managing overall bookings in calves adhering to the calf forecast
- Coordinating with the transport manager with external hauliers and regional supply from collection centres
- Maintaining and improving calf specification to meet company standards
- Overseeing genetic operational performance in collaboration with genetic companies
- Working with farm assurance teams to continue compliance
Ideally, you will have a background in the dairy industry or livestock environment and experience of managing a field-based team. Excellent communication is key, with the ability to manage challenges in a calm and professional manner. An understanding of animal welfare and logistics is essential.
This role requires a full UK driving licence.
