About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and practical individual to join our team as a Calf Rearing Technician. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop hands-on livestock skills while gaining experience in a structured, corporate environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Calf Rearing Manager with routine visits to contracted calf rearing units
Monitor calf health and welfare, identifying and flagging any unviable or at-risk animals
Provide clear and timely feedback to the wider business Assist with weighing calves and linking/recording EID (electronic identification) tags
Support vaccination programmes as required
Carry out quality checks on calves entering the scheme at collection centers
Ensure high standards of animal welfare and biosecurity are maintained at all times
Working Style
Combination of independent work and collaborative support with Calf Rearing Managers
Manage your own schedule while contributing to planned strategic visits
Regular travel across South Wales and the Southwest, including occasional overnight stays
Personal specification
Self-motivated with strong organisational skills
Comfortable working independently and managing your own diary
Practical, hands-on approach with livestock (experience with calves or dairy preferred) Good observational skills and attention to detail
Strong communication skills for reporting and feedback
Full UK driving license and willingness to travel extensively
