We are seeking a skilled, proactive, and enthusiastic Multi Skilled Engineer to join our Engineering department. Responsibilities
- Minimise operational downtime and maximise operational efficiencies by ensuring the reliability and effectiveness of plant and machinery.
- Respond quickly to production breakdowns and deliver planned preventative maintenance on a wide range of highly automated machinery such as conveyors, extruders, palletisers, vacuum packers, form sealers and wrapping machines.
- Carry out fault finding on PLC systems, complete electrical installations, and manage project work.
- Operate to a high degree of Health & Safety and good housekeeping standards.
- Operate within the HSE protocols – Permit to Work, Risk Assessment, Method Statement, Safe System of Work and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Ensure lock‑off procedures are followed at all times to safeguard yourself and others on site.
- Carry out small projects and modifications within any project programme.
- Quickly assess the nature of a breakdown and act accordingly.
- Share proposals for improvements across the site.
- Develop, create and implement maintenance SOPs.
- Conduct PPM inspections and maintenance, and perform corrective maintenance repairs in a timely manner.
- Execute general maintenance tasks, including lubrication as required.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 City & Guilds, Electrical / Mechanical (essential)
- ONC / HNC or equivalent level of education (desirable)
- Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship (essential)
- 17th Edition I.E.E. regulations (essential)
- Competency in PLCs (essential)
- Aptitude to fault diagnosis and logical thinking (essential)
- Knowledge of servo motor principles (essential)
- "Can Do" attitude (essential)
- Ability to read, understand and work with schematic drawings (essential)
- Advanced electrical wiring and maintenance skills (desirable)
- Inspection, testing and certification (desirable)
- Good general workshop skills (essential)
- Self‑organisation and self‑motivation (essential)
- Experience with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) (desirable)
- Demonstrable skills in CI, TPM, Lean techniques (desirable)
