Academics are currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to join the Nursery and Reception team at a welcoming school in Newport. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young children and wants to play an important role in helping them settle confidently into school life. The role will be mornings only, making it an ideal opportunity for someone looking for a part-time position while still gaining valuable experience within an early years setting.

You will work closely with the class teacher and wider school team to support children as they become familiar with new routines, expectations and their learning environment.

What will you be doing?

  • Supporting children as they settle into Nursery and Reception routines
  • Helping pupils feel comfortable, confident and secure within the classroom
  • Supporting the class teacher with day-to-day classroom activities
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and helping children understand classroom expectations
  • Helping to maintain a safe, welcoming and engaging learning environment
  • Building positive relationships with children and staff

What do we need from you?

  • Previous experience working with children in an educational, nursery or childcare setting, including supporting children with ALN, is preferred.
  • An enhanced DBS check is essential, with registration on the Update Service desirable
  • Current registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
  • Two professional references
  • A patient, nurturing and positive approach
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team

Salary will be determined by the successful candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, and will be in accordance with the client's pay policy.
