Childcare Solicitor
Location: Coventry with onsite parking
Salary: up to c£50,000 per annum, commensurate with PQE
About the firm:
This well-established law firm has been trading since the 1960’s and has a close-knit network of offices throughout Coventry and Warwickshire.
They are a multi-service law firm, providing services in family and children law, personal injury and clinical negligence, criminal defence, conveyancing and wills and probate.
Their accreditations include Lexcel, CQS, Children Law and Family Law Advanced accreditation, Criminal Litigation accreditation. They are also contracted with the Legal Aid Agency
What you'll be doing:
- Providing specialist legal advice to parents and guardians relating to childcare law
- Managing a caseload of childcare and public law children matters from start to finish to include care proceedings, interim care orders, emergency protection orders, supervision orders, special guardianship orders and adoption matters
- Providing first class client care to clients
- Preparing legal documents including applications, witness statements, position statements, schedules and instructions to counsel
- Attending court to represent clients at court hearings, including advocacy work
- Instructing barristers, experts, and other third parties
- Reviewing evidence and preparing cases for court hearings
Who we’re looking for:
Suitable candidates will have:
- Fully qualified status
- Experience in handling a public law childcare caseload, ideally including legal aid funded work
- The ability to handle a childcare caseload independently
- Strong advocacy skills and experience in family courts
- Excellent client care skills and communication skills
- Membership of ALC or Resolution (preferred but not essential)
- An understanding of compliance around SRA and Legal Aid Agency requirements
