Abode Architects, a boutique residential practice in Glasgow, are looking to grow their team from 1 to 2 people, with the addition of a Senior Architect. The successful candidate will lead several high-quality private residential projects across all RIBA work stages. Strong Revit and 5+ years post-ARB experience are essential, along with solid Scottish Planning and Building Warrant experience.

About Abode: Abode is a design-led residential practice in Glasgow. The studio stays intentionally small so craft, clarity, and client focus come first. We create high-quality private homes across the Central Belt, including considered extensions, townhouse conversions, careful refurbishments, and new low energy builds. We deliver a full service from first ideas to completion on site.

What you will do:

  • Lead several active projects at a time.
  • Work across all RIBA work stages, including acting as Contract Administrator during construction.
  • Lead client meetings, coordinate consultants, and issue clear drawing packages.
  • Act as Principal Designer on domestic projects.
  • Attend site and handle real-world issues in a calm, practical, and efficient way.

How we work:

  • Hybrid working: mix of office (Glasgow) and home, agreed together.
  • Hours: 35hr week. Overtime avoided where possible.
  • Clients: mostly homeowners and property developers.
  • Continuous improvement: Kaizen sessions focused on efficiency, service, and quality.
  • Onboarding and development: regular 1:1s with clear goals & expectations.
  • Travel: driving licence essential. Frequent visits to client homes and sites across the Central Belt.

You will fit if:

  • Minimum 5 years post-registration experience with the ARB.
  • Revit used day to day for 3+ years on live projects.
  • Open to change and continuous improvement.
  • Bring initiative and a systems mindset to help grow the practice.
  • Extensive experience of Planning and Building Warrant in Scotland.
  • Agile and clear communicator with clients and contractors.
  • Experience with SBCC or JCT traditional contract administration.
  • Able to create 3D visualisations is a plus. We currently use Lumion.
  • Revit: 3+ years of day to day use.
  • AutoCAD: 5+ years.
  • SketchUp: 5+ years.
  • InDesign: 5+ years.
  • Photoshop: 5+ years.
  • Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

Package:

  • Salary of £40,000 - £50,000 depending on experience.
  • Performance based annual bonus.
  • 30 days total leave each year (> than statutory minimum).
  • Above statutory pension with 5% employer contribution.
  • Structured CPD programme.
