LOCATION: GLA CITY HALL, London, E16 1ZE

WORKING HOURS: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 10am to 6pm

PAY RATE: £15.15 per hour

Job Purpose Summary

The porter would be responsible for ensuring that all internal meeting rooms and services within these rooms and the surrounding areas are maintained to the highest of standards at all times and ensure all room set up’s are completed correctly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete morning and evening checklists
  • Working as a team to set‑up rooms, Town hall space and other event spaces by physically moving, measuring and rearranging furniture etc.
  • Responsible for larger meeting room layouts – e.g. theater / classroom / boardroom style, U‑shape, Cabaret just to name a few.
  • Ensure meeting rooms are ready to be used throughout the day by carrying out pre‑change‑around / post change‑around cleaning, cleaning (marks or spills).
  • Maintain / stock meeting room stationery – pens / pencils / pads, whiteboard markers / erasers
  • Maintain meeting room equipment, e.g. ensure table batteries are fully charged and raise any issues with Helpdesk, line manager or supervisor
  • Daily communication with Facilities – including recording and reporting any issues / faults ongoing throughout the day
  • Collection and delivery of parcels / packages and event printing of daily information reports
  • Health and safety walk round / check
  • Ad hoc facilities job – e.g. helping with keys / moving pedestals / chairs
  • General maintenance and upkeep of all notice boards or flip charts in the buildings.

This role will be performed across multiple floors; overseeing internal meeting rooms only and therefore will not be dealing with external clients, although some escorting for contractors may be required. Ensure use of trolleys provided. A uniform will be provided, smart black safety shoes will be provided.

In this role the porter will be liaising with multiple departments due to the variety of the role, although managed by the Supervisor, the porter will be in communication largely with the Facilities team (reporting issues / faults or completing H&S walk rounds). Ad hoc communication will also be required with Mailroom. On occasion the porter will be asked to complete ad hoc duties for any of these departments.

Training

A variety of training will be provided, as a vital part of this role is ensuring the porter knows which department to contact with regards to the various issues that may arise. A good understanding or previous experience in the roles / teams below would therefore be advantageous.
