LOCATION: London Heathrow Airport

SHIFT PATTERN: 4on 4off, 40 hours per week

PAY RATE: £ per hour

ROLE OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE

Working as a member of the Passengers Services team, you will drive the company’s ambi-lifts or minibuses on the airfield to the aircraft to transfer passengers with reduced mobility or from the aircraft to the terminal building or from the terminal building to the aircraft. You will also drive electric buggies and push wheelchairs when required to assist passengers within the terminal building.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complete the daily Vehicle Check Sheet, to maintain the operational reliability of the vehicle, reporting when necessary any vehicle defects in line with the Vehicle Inspection procedure.
  • Drive the Company vehicles ensuring that the vehicle is always safe and secure.
  • Operate the vehicle safely within close proximity to the aircraft using all safety systems of the vehicle.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy vehicle at all times.
  • Ensure PPE is always worn when operating airside.
  • Deliver or collect the passengers at the aircraft door and assist with the transfer into their seat or wheelchair through safe manual handling techniques.
  • Complete Customer Care Agent (CCA) duties within the terminal when demand requires, this may include escorting passengers through the terminal/security and boarding flights or meeting arriving flights and assisting PRS’s through to baggage reclaim.
  • Ensure that the Allocator is updated on progress of jobs at all times using PDA’s and Radio.
  • Observe all Heathrow airport airside driving requirements.
  • Promote a safe and secure environment at all times.
  • Ability to operate and use all company equipment after sufficient training, aisle chairs, slings, porta-ramp, and tail lift.
  • Ensure accident and incident reporting procedure is adhered to in all cases.
  • Be aware of any airport updates (OAN’s/OSI’s).
  • Roster and shift patterns are subject to operational requirement affected and influenced by the airport and airline schedules.
  • Must be able to operate the following shifts patterns include early starts, late finishes, nights, weekdays, weekends and bank holidays.
  • Always comply with airport bylaws when operating airside.
  • Carry out any reasonable task requested.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Maintain a professional image at all times.

  • Previous Airline &/or Airport experience is desired although not essential as full training will be provided.
  • Experience in a similar role or driving larger vehicles would be an advantage.

  • Demonstrate reliability including the ability to deliver high standards of both punctuality and attendance.
  • Ability to deal calmly and confidently with all demands from the public.

  • Minimum driving experience/licence held 3 years.
  • You must be aged 23 and over for insurance purposes.
  • You must be able to obtain an airside driving permit (Including passing a driving medical with a colour-blind test).
