SHIFT PATTERN: Night shifts, typically 21:00–06:00, 5 days out of 7, including weekends, with flexibility to meet business needs.

ABM UK is seeking a proactive and experienced Night Shift Manager to support the delivery of soft services at a high-profile mixed-use development in West Kensington, London. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will take full responsibility for overnight operations, ensuring that all cleaning, hygiene, waste, and associated services are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards outside of core business hours. You will play a critical role in maintaining operational continuity, preparing the site for daily opening, and supporting a seamless transition between day and night operations in a fast-paced, high-footfall environment.
Key Responsibilities- Operational Delivery (Night Shift)
- Manage the delivery of all night-time soft services operations, including cleaning, hygiene, waste management, and periodic tasks.
- Ensure the site is fully prepared for daily opening, maintaining exceptional standards across all areas.
- Supervise and coordinate deep cleaning, specialist cleaning, and project-based tasks during low-traffic hours.
- Allocate resources effectively to ensure all scheduled activities are completed within required timeframes.
- Maintain a strong on-site leadership presence, ensuring visibility and accountability across teams.
- Team Leadership & Management
- Lead, supervise, and motivate a multi-skilled night team, ensuring high performance and engagement.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing training of night staff in line with operational standards.
- Conduct shift briefings, performance reviews, and one-to-one meetings with team members.
- Promote a positive safety culture and ensure full compliance with company values and behaviours.
- Rotas and work schedule management.
- Health & Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all night operations are conducted in full compliance with Health & Safety regulations and company policies.
- Carry out regular inspections, audits, and risk assessments during shifts.
- Monitor safe use of machinery, chemicals, and equipment.
- Ensure all incidents, near misses, and hazards are reported and managed appropriately.
- Planning & Coordination
- Work closely with the Operations Manager and day teams to ensure seamless handover between shifts.
- Coordinate night operations around events, tenant requirements, and maintenance schedules.
- Ensure all planned and reactive tasks are completed with minimal disruption to the site.
- Maintain accurate records, logs, and reports of all night activities.
- Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Support the delivery of contractual KPIs and SLAs through effective oversight of night operations.
- Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements, cost control, and service enhancements.
- Assist in managing consumables, equipment usage, and staffing levels in line with budget expectations.
- Proven experience in a supervisory or management role within cleaning or soft services operations.
- Experience managing teams in a night shift or 24/7 operational environment.
- Strong understanding of cleaning standards, equipment, and safe systems of work.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and compliance requirements.
- Good IT literacy and experience with reporting systems.
- Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions during out-of-hours operations.
- Health & Safety qualification.
- Experience within large, multi-use or high-footfall sites.
- Knowledge of waste management and environmental practices.
