ROLE OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE

The Employee Relations function exists to create a positive, inclusiveand high-performing workplace by enabling managers at all levels to make confident people decisions while ensuring specialist Employee Relationsexpertiseis available where organisational complexity, contractual requirements or workforce risk require intervention.

Supporting the delivery of the People Strategy, Employee Relationsoperatesas a single specialist team through a tiered service model with the flexible deployment of dedicated and shared specialist resources.

This enables ABM to deliver consistent Employee Relations support across the UK & Ireland while recognising the unique operational and contractual requirements of client-funded and strategically significant accounts.

The function is built on four core principles

  • Manager Enablement– equipping managers through self-service, guidance, toolkitsand coaching.
  • Flexible Deployment–providingspecialist capability through dedicated and shared Employee Relations resources.
  • Governance & Standards– ensuring one governance framework, onemethodologyand consistent service standards across all Employee Relations activity.
  • Strategic Partnership– working collaboratively with Industrial Relations, HR Business Partners, Centres of Excellence and operational leaders to proactively improve organisational performance, employeeexperienceand workforce capability.

Through proactive intervention, organisational insight and continuous improvement, the Employee Relations function supports business growth, strengthens organisationalcapabilityand creates a positive employee experience across the UK & Ireland.

ROLE OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE

Reporting to the Senior Employee Relations Manager, the Employee Relations Advisor provides specialist Employee Relations advice and operational case management across the UK & Ireland, enabling managers at all levels to manage people matters fairly, consistently and in line with Company policies, employmentlegislationand organisational values.

Operating as part of a single specialist Employee Relations team, the role delivers Employee Relations services through a tiered service model with the flexible deployment of dedicated and shared specialist resources.

The Employee Relations Advisor may support dedicated client contracts or shared business areas depending on organisational priorities, whileoperatingwithin one governance framework, consistentmethodologyand service standards.

The roleis responsible for managing a broad range of Employee Relations cases, providing practical guidance and coaching to managers, conductinginvestigationsand supporting the early resolution of workplace issues.

Through proactive intervention, effective case management and collaborative working with HR Business Partners and wider People teams, the Employee Relations Advisor contributes to a positive employee experience, organisationalperformanceand the successful delivery of the People Strategy.

All Employee Relations roles are expected to work flexibly across dedicated client teams and shared specialist resources in line with business priorities, contractualrequirementsand the Employee Relations Operating Framework.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Employee Relations Case Management
  • Manage a portfolio of Employee Relations cases, including performance, conduct, attendance, grievanceand capabilitymatters.
  • Provide practical Employee Relations advice and guidance to managers at all levels.
  • Conduct investigations and prepare clear, evidence-based investigation reports.
  • Support managers through formal Employee Relations processes, ensuring consistency and compliance.
  • Identifyopportunities for early intervention and informal resolution whereappropriate.
  • Escalate complex or high-risk matters in line with the agreed operating framework.
  • Manager Enablement & Coaching
  • Coach managers through Employee Relations processes and conversations.
  • Support managers in the effective use of Employee Relations toolkits, templatesand guidance.
  • Promote self-service and encourage consistent application of policies and procedures.
  • Identifyrecurring manager capability gaps and share insights with the wider Employee Relations team.
  • Employee Relations Service Delivery
  • Deliver Employee Relations support across dedicated or shared resources, depending on business demand and contractual requirements.
  • Maintain consistent service delivery regardless of deployment model.
  • Collaborate with Employee Relations Case Co-ordinators to ensure smooth case progression.
  • Support effective allocation and prioritisation of cases.
  • Contribute to service performance and operational excellence.
  • Governance, Risk & Quality
  • Apply Employee Relations policies, proceduresand governance standards consistently.
  • Maintainaccurateandtimelycase records.
  • Produce high-quality documentation and correspondence.
  • Support case reviews and quality assurance activities.
  • Identifypotential organisational or legal risks and elevate appropriately.
  • Ensure confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Employee Experience & Continuous Improvement
  • Promote early resolution of workplace issues.
  • Contribute to a positive employee experience through fair and consistent case management.
  • Identifytrends and recurring Employee Relations issues.
  • Contribute ideas to improve Employee Relations processes, documentationand manager resources.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the Employee Relations function.
  • Collaboration & Partnership
  • Build strong working relationships with HR Business Partners, Centres of Excellence and operational leaders.
  • Work collaboratively with the Industrial Relations & Policy Manager whereappropriate.
  • Support organisational change initiatives and wider People projects.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, customer-focused Employee Relations function.

Essential

  • CIPD Level 5 qualification (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Degree or equivalent professional experience in Human Resources or a related discipline.

Desirable

  • Experience supporting Employee Relations within a large, complexor outsourced organisation.
  • Working knowledge of Irish employment legislation.
