LOCATION: Guildhall Shopping Centre, Exeter
SHIFT PATTERN: 4 on 4 off (12 hour shifts), 42 hours per week

Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Shopping Centre Cleaning Supervisor to join our team at the Guildhall shopping centre, Exeter. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily cleaning operations within the shopping centre, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation are consistently maintained in this busy, customer-facing environment. This is a hands-on supervisory role requiring strong leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to manage both people and performance effectively.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Work hands-on alongside the cleaning team while supervising cleaning operations.
- Lead, motivate, and support cleaning operatives to ensure adherence to company standards and procedures.
- Assist the soft services manager and senior supervisor in coordinating cleaning schedules and allocating resources effectively.
- Ensure all areas of the shopping centre are cleaned in line with agreed specifications and within required timeframes.
- Conduct regular quality inspections and complete audit documentation.
- Deliver training and ongoing development to cleaning staff (BICS training experience advantageous).
- Address and resolve client or tenant complaints relating to cleanliness in a professional and timely manner.
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering cleaning supplies and managing equipment inventory.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety procedures, COSHH regulations, and safe systems of work.
- Promote a proactive approach to maintaining standards during peak footfall periods.
- Support with any client/customer requests.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Cleaning Supervisor, ideally within a shopping centre or high-footfall public environment.
- Strong knowledge of cleaning procedures, techniques, and industry best practice.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proven leadership and team management ability.
- Confident in handling customer complaints and resolving issues professionally.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality standards.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, bank holidays and weekends as required.
