About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and driven Compliance, Fleet & Training Manager to lead and oversee all airside compliance, fleet management, and training activities at Heathrow Airport. This is a senior operational role responsible for ensuring the highest standards of safety, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency across ramp operations. You will play a critical role in maintaining audit readiness, managing key stakeholder relationships (including Heathrow Airport Limited), and driving continuous improvement across all airside functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fleet Management & Asset Control: Oversee the full lifecycle of the airside vehicle fleet, including maintenance, servicing, compliance, and replacement planning. Manage third-party maintenance providers to ensure timely, cost-effective service delivery. Monitor fleet performance, availability, and cleanliness in collaboration with Operations teams. Manage budgets, raise purchase orders, and support capital investment decisions.
  • Compliance & Safety: Lead all ramp compliance activities, ensuring adherence to HAL, airline, and regulatory standards. Maintain full audit readiness, including accurate documentation of inspections, incidents, and corrective actions. Oversee vehicle and equipment safety checks, ensuring compliance is consistently met and enforced. Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Training & Competency: Take overall responsibility for airside training programmes and compliance. Manage the Ramp Trainer ensuring all personnel remain fully qualified and compliant. Maintain accurate and up-to-date training records. Work closely with internal training and security teams, as well as ABM Operations Managers to ensure alignment with company and regulatory standards.
  • Driver & Access Management: Oversee Vehicle Airside Pass (VAP) processes, including applications, renewals, and compliance tracking. Ensure regular driver license checks and full compliance with airside requirements. Support driver standards, accountability, and ongoing competency.
  • Stakeholder & HAL Management: Act as the primary point of contact for Heathrow Airport Limited (HAL) Airfield Operations and other key stakeholders. Ensure compliance across all airside facilities, including property, uniform, and safety standards. Manage HAL-related invoicing, business rates, and associated administrative requirements. Provide regular reporting to senior leadership on compliance, fleet performance, and operational risk.

About You

  • Proven experience in airside operations, fleet management, or compliance leadership within a regulated environment (aviation preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of airside safety regulations and operational standards.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to manage teams and influence stakeholders.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and fleet/compliance systems.

Desirable

  • Airside Safety or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with telematics or fleet management systems.
  • Full UK driving license.

Working Environment

Combination of office and airside operational environment. Exposure to varying weather conditions. Flexibility required, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays. Regular walking and vehicle inspections across the airport estate.
