ABM Facility Services UK is looking to recruit Cleaning/Waste Operatives on a full-time permanent basis for a high-profile shopping centre in Brighton. The successful candidate should be able to work as part of a team in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment providing janitorial and waste removal services.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Working within our janitorial and waste removal team in a shopping centre environment, carrying out duties effectively and efficiently.
- Handling waste generated on site via the approved waste streams.
- Driving scrubber dryers and operating site equipment.
- Providing high-quality janitorial services internally and externally in areas such as washrooms, break rooms, the canteen, reception, offices, locker rooms, and production areas.
- Using walk-behind and ride-on sweepers and scrubber-dryers, ensuring all equipment is clean, well-maintained, and safe to use.
- Responding to spillages and callouts from the client’s on-site team.
- Communicating effectively with team members and line managers.
- Wearing PPE and complying with health & safety legislation and policies.
- Working independently and as part of a team, demonstrating good communication skills and confidence in interactions.
- Undergoing full training on cleaning methods and equipment, which will be provided.
Person Specification:
- Satisfactory response from Disclosure Board at a basic level and knowledge of health and safety requirements or willingness to learn.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Adaptability to a busy operational environment.
- Reliability and flexibility in approach.
- Physical fitness required for an active role.
Desirable:
- Local candidates preferred.
Health & Safety Responsibilities:
- Follow group and company policies and procedures at all times.
- Report deficiencies in systems or equipment that may affect service or safety.
- Use all work equipment and PPE properly and according to training.
- Report issues or training needs to your line manager or via the incident reporting system.
