SHIFT PATTERN: 17:00-20:00 Monday to Friday, 3 hours per shift, 15 per week
PAY RATE: £13.45 per hour
ROLE OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE
This is a full‑time, 40‑hour week position distributed as 4 on / 2 off, with two 06:00–14:00 shifts and two 14:00–22:00 shifts per 7‑day cycle. The role is a cleaning/waste operative responsible for delivering high‑standard cleaning services in and around the building facilities. Operations are both indoors and outdoors throughout the day. The position supports ABM’s tailored facility solutions, meeting and exceeding client expectations, while promoting a sustainable environment and offering opportunities for personal and professional growth.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct regular waste collection and disposal duties throughout the shopping centre.
- Monitor waste levels in bins and initiate timely collections to prevent overflow.
- Ensure waste management areas are kept tidy and organized.
- Collaborate with team members to implement best practices in waste management.
- Report any maintenance issues with waste bins or collections to management.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations while handling waste materials.
- Conduct regular litter picks and general cleaning of the external aspect of the centre.
- Perform overnight pressure washing of paving.
- Use cleaning machines internally and externally.
- Assist team leaders or supervisors as required to ensure optimum service to clients.
- Perform additional duties as needed within reasonable scope.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Previous experience in waste management or a similar role preferred.
- Strong understanding of waste disposal and recycling practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
- Strong communication skills to interact with management, tenants, and members of the public.
- Physical fitness and ability to carry out manual handling tasks related to waste handling.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends, overnight, and cover holidays.
