Overview
Working as a member of the PRS Airside Driver Team, you will drive the Company's specialist vehicles on the airfield to transfer passengers with reduced mobility (PRS's) from the aircraft to the terminal building or from the terminal building to the aircraft. The vehicles range from minibuses to Class 2 rigid heavy goods type vehicles, for which full training and instruction will be provided. You will also assist PRS's onto the aircraft, to their seat or into the ABM vehicles or terminal buildings, which involves passenger and manual handling techniques.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete the daily Vehicle Check Sheet, maintain vehicle reliability, and report any defects in line with procedures.
- Drive the Company vehicles safely and securely.
- Operate vehicles safely within close proximity to aircraft, using all safety systems.
- Maintain a clean and tidy vehicle at all times.
- Wear PPE at all times when operating airside.
- Deliver or collect passengers at the aircraft door and assist with seat or wheelchair transfer using safe manual handling techniques.
- Perform Customer Care Agent duties in the terminal as required, including escorting passengers through the terminal, security, and boarding flights or assisting PRS through to baggage reclaim.
- Inform the Allocator of job progress using PDA and radio.
- Observe all Heathrow airport airside driving requirements.
- Promote a safe and secure environment at all times.
- Operate company equipment after sufficient training (aisle chairs, slings, porta-ramp, tail lift).
- Adhere to accident and incident reporting procedures.
- Stay updated on airport notices (OANs/OSIs).
- Work the required roster and shift patterns, including early starts, late finishes, nights, weekdays, weekends, and bank holidays.
- Comply with all airport bylaws when operating airside.
Required Experience
- Maintain a professional image at all times.

- Previous airline or airport experience is desirable but not essential; full training will be provided.
- Experience in a similar role or driving larger vehicles is advantageous.

Essential Skills
- Valid Right to Work documentation.
- 5-year checkable employment/education history, ideally with no more than 5 references for vetting.
- Pass a basic DBS check.
- Overseas criminal record check if applicable.
- Available for very early morning shifts beyond normal public transport times.
- Obtain an airside pass for access to security-restricted areas.
- Willingness to work weekends and shifts.
- Full driving licence essential; categories C & D desirable, licence held for 3 years.
- Age 23 or over for insurance purposes.
- Obtain an airside driving permit, including a driving medical with colour-blind test.
- Good command of the English language, both verbal and written.
