LOCATION: The Mander Centre
SHIFT PATTERN: Various Monday‑Sunday, 12 hours per week
PAY RATE: £13.20 per hour
Role Overview and Purpose
This important role is the public face of the Security Team. A can‑do and professional attitude is essential in this highly influential role. You must ensure exemplary standards of security and customer service are always provided to the client and visitors to the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Interact with all visitors/tenants within the shopping centre, delivering first‑class customer focused service
- Carry out regular patrols of the shopping centre as detailed in the site assignment instructions, acting proactively
- Continuously look for opportunities to assist visitors at the shopping centre, proactively helping wherever opportunities arise
- Safeguard all sites to ensure a safe and non‑threatening environment for all visitors/tenants
- Ensure all incidents are managed in accordance with site policies and procedures
- Liaise with the site control room, reacting proactively to incidents and ensuring colleagues are fully briefed and supported
- Report any unsecured areas of the site to the Control Room immediately and ensure action is taken to resolve them
- Record and log all non‑conformances and emergencies with the appropriate control room operatives
- Deal efficiently and effectively with all emergencies, keeping the Centre team fully informed
- Intelligently assess human behaviour, monitor and surveil suspect individuals, log and report incidents in line with site/company policies
- Maintain vigilance and manage unauthorised access by banned individuals
- Ensure radio procedures are always adhered to
- Ensure all events/incidents are recorded in the Security Officer notebook correctly, following the notebook policies
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as required to meet the needs of the business
Required Skills and Experience
- Professional, pleasant, friendly, courteous, and helpful at all times while carrying out duties to the highest standard
- Team player with a one‑team approach
- Take ownership of all situations to ensure tasks are completed or escalated when necessary
- Maintain motivation, aim high, and achieve
- Respect all staff and visitors within the shopping centre
- Possess an SIA and CCTV license (essential)
- First Aid Training mandatory
