An opportunity has become available for an Engineer to join our team at London Gatwick Airport working both Airside and Landside.
LOCATION: Gatwick Airport
SHIFT PATTERN: 4 on 4 off
Reporting to the Supervisor into Fleet/Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing vehicles to strict Company standards and adhering to all Health & Safety guidelines. You'll need to be familiar with PCV/HGV, as well as being fully up to date with all current DVSA regulations.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Carry out routine safety inspections, MOT preparations, Service to a higher standard than DVSA minimum standard, along with rectifying defects that have been identified on the inspection.
- Rectify drivers defects as requested.
- Attend promptly all vehicle breakdowns as requested by the Fleet/Engineering Manager or Supervisor.
- Correctly complete job cards, Safety inspections sheets, and drivers defect reports for each job before starting the next job.
- Keep the workshop in a clean & tidy state. (clean as you go)
- Comply with company Health & Safety Policies and Procedures.
- Any other reasonable work-related request to include travel.
- Working shift patterns is required.
Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications
- PCV/HGV Licence desirable
- Previous experience
- Relevant City & Guilds qualifications - NVQ 2 in mechanical commercial vehicles
- Excellent diagnostic skills and a familiarity of Department of Transport Standards (DVSA) would be desirable.
- Team working and good communication skills are paramount.
