Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off (2 days + 2 nights), 33.5 hours per week

Overview

The Site Officer (SO) is the public face of the Security Team and is responsible for ensuring exemplary standards of security and customer service for all visitors and tenants to the site at all times. The SO must act professionally, maintain a positive attitude, and support the Safety and security objectives of the team and the organisation.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Interact with all visitors and tenants to provide first‑class customer focused service.
  • Carry out regular patrols of the shopping centre as detailed in the site Assignment Instructions and be proactive at all times.
  • Maintain a professional, friendly and courteous demeanour whilst completing duties to the highest standard.
  • Adhere strictly to personal grooming and site uniform requirements.
  • Continuously look for opportunities to assist visitors and proactively offer help wherever possible.
  • Ensure the site is a safe and non‑threatening environment for all visitors and tenants.
  • Manage all incidents in accordance with site policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with the site control room and react proactively to incidents, keeping colleagues briefed and supported.
  • Report any unsecured areas to the Control Room immediately and have action taken to resolve them.
  • Record and log all non‑conformances and emergencies with the appropriate control room operatives.
  • Deal efficiently with all emergencies, keeping the Centre team fully informed.
  • Monitor human behaviour, conduct surveillance of suspect individuals, and log and report incidents in line with site/company policies.
  • Maintain vigilance and highlight or manage unauthorised access by banned individuals.
  • Assist third‑party contractors and visitors to ensure all site procedures and policies are followed.
  • Liaise closely with statutory authorities, dealing with incidents and providing information.
  • Adhere to radio procedures at all times.
  • Record all events and incidents accurately in the SO notebook, following notebook policies.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties required to meet the needs of the business.
  • Be available to cover at least one additional shift per month should absence or annual leave require it.
  • Liaise closely with the Environmental Services team, delivering joint services and highlighting team opportunities.
  • Support the Supervisor in conducting regular audits as required.
  • Complete all training requirements as requested by the line manager.
  • Ensure timely response to all security issues and events.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties requested by the line manager.
