As part of the ABM Service Team at The Gyle Shopping Centre, you will be responsible for delivering high standards of site maintenance and groundskeeping services.

This hands-on role includes a mix of outdoor grounds care, general handyman tasks, and operating mechanical cleaning equipment to ensure the site remains safe, clean, and welcoming.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Groundskeeping & Outdoor Maintenance
  • Perform grass cutting, hedge trimming, weeding, and seasonal planting.
  • Maintain flower beds, borders, and other green areas.
  • Clear leaves, litter, and debris from outdoor spaces.
  • Apply treatments such as fertilisers and weed control.
  • General Maintenance & PPM Tasks
  • Carry out minor repairs including fixing slabs, door handles, and fixtures.
  • Change filters on AHUs and perform basic Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) tasks.
  • Assist tenants and respond to maintenance requests.
  • Identify and report health and safety issues.
  • Operate mechanical sweepers, pressure washers.
  • Winter maintenance such as gritting.
  • Ensure maintenance checks are completed, and site-specific compliance is met.
  • Working at Height required use of MEWP (training provided)
  • Customer Interaction
  • Act as a helpful point of contact for visitors and tenants.
  • Maintain a professional and approachable manner at all times.

Proven experience as a Handyman and or grounds maintenance required.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and proactive attitude.
  • Flexible and adaptable to meet operational needs.
  • First Aid at Work (desirable).
  • Willingness to follow instructions and safety procedures. Driver Licence required.
  • PA1 & PA6 desirable.
  • Technical qualification not necessary but desirable.
  • IPATH desirable.
