ROLE OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE
We are seeking professional, customer-focused Security Officers to join our team at Eastgate Shopping Centre, Inverness.
The successful candidate will provide a highly visible security presence, ensuring the safety and security of visitors, retailers, contractors, and colleagues while delivering exceptional customer service.
As a Security Officer, you will play a key role in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming shopping environment, supporting daily operations, responding to incidents, and upholding the highest standards of service delivery.
- Key responsibility
- Carry out regular patrols of the shopping centre, service corridors, car parks, and external areas.
- Monitor and respond to alarms, incidents, and security breaches in a professional manner.
- Complete lock and unlock procedures for designated areas.
- Monitor CCTV systems in accordance with company procedures and current legislation.
- Challenge unauthorised persons and manage access control procedures.
- Support emergency response activities, including evacuations and incident management.
- Record and report all incidents accurately and in a timely manner.
- Deliver excellent customer service to visitors, retailers, contractors, and colleagues.
- Provide information, assistance, and directions to members of the public.
- Act as an ambassador for Eastgate Shopping Centre, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment.
- Support centre events and initiatives when required.
- Identify and report hazards, defects, and unsafe practices.
- Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Support emergency procedures, including fire and first aid incidents where trained.
- Maintain awareness of site emergency plans and business continuity arrangements.
- Liaise with emergency services and centre management as required.
- Complete detailed incident reports and documentation.
- Maintain accurate records of patrols, incidents, and daily activities.
- Use security systems and technology in line with company policies.
Candidate requirements
- Valid SIA Door Supervisor Licence.
- Previous experience in a security role.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong customer service focus.
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Good observational and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work a flexible shift pattern, including weekends and bank holidays.
- Basic IT literacy.
- SIA CCTV license (desirable)
Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Conduct daily/weekly/monthly duties in line with the SIA license training courses to ensure the centre is safe and compliant in all aspect of health & safety
- Confident in complying with health & safety and fire prevention procedures
- Take an active role in emergency situations including Fire Warden tasks
- Oversee external contractor management to ensure they are working safely
- Always follow ABM Group and company policies and procedures
- Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service delivery or risk to health and safety or the environment
- Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received
- Report any issues or training needs to your Line manager and /or via your divisional incident reporting system
