We are working with a leading international offshore drilling contractor to support the hire of a Subsea Support Engineer to join their onshore engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone from a hands-on mechanical background looking to transition into an office-based engineering role, with a clear pathway for progression into a fully-fledged Subsea Engineer position.
The Role: This position sits within a specialist subsea engineering team, supporting offshore operations and subsea equipment across a global fleet. You will play a key role in bridging the gap between workshop/field experience and engineering, gaining exposure to subsea systems, offshore operations, and project-based work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support for subsea equipment and pressure control systems
- Assist with maintenance planning, fault finding, and troubleshooting activities
- Support offshore operations from an onshore engineering environment
- Contribute to equipment overhaul planning, asset management, and documentation
- Assist with subsea-related projects, upgrades, and engineering modifications
- Liaise with internal teams, OEMs, and offshore personnel to resolve technical issues
- Work closely with senior engineers and technical specialists on day-to-day operations
Candidate Profile:
- Completed a Mechanical Apprenticeship, HNC, or equivalent qualification
- Background in workshop, maintenance, or hands-on engineering environments
- Strong mechanical knowledge of equipment, assemblies, and maintenance processes
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation
- Keen to move into an office-based engineering role
- Motivated to develop problem-solving, reporting, and engineering skills
- Interest in further education (HND/Degree level) is advantageous
