This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced welding professional to support learners completing Level 2 and Level 3 Fabrication and Welding apprenticeships and welding skills programmes.
You will play a key role in delivering high quality practical and theoretical welding training while assessing learner competence and supporting individuals throughout their learning journey. You will help learners gain recognised qualifications and develop the confidence and skills needed to succeed within the welding and engineering industries.
What you will be doing:
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging practical and theoretical welding sessions
- Deliver training to learners undertaking Level 2 and Level 3 Fabrication and Welding apprenticeships as a Welding Tutor Assessor
- Deliver training and support for Welding Skills Bootcamp learners
- Teach a range of welding processes including MIG, MAG, TIG and MMA
- Assess learner practical competence and theoretical knowledge using approved assessment methods
- Provide ongoing guidance, mentoring and support to help learners achieve their qualification goals
- Monitor learner progress and identify learners who require additional support
- Maintain accurate and timely records of learner progress, reviews, assessments and feedback
- Ensure a safe, inclusive and professional learning environment within the workshop
- Promote and maintain high standards of health and safety at all times
- Stay up to date with industry developments, awarding body requirements and assessment best practice
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to continuously improve teaching, learning and assessment quality
- Ensure safeguarding compliance and data protection procedures are followed at all times
- Support senior management with additional duties and project work when required
What we are looking for:
- Strong occupational competency and practical experience within fabrication and welding
- Experience working with MIG, MAG, TIG and MMA welding processes
- Experience supporting, developing or mentoring others within a workplace or training environment
- Passion for helping learners develop the skills required for successful careers within welding and engineering
- Strong communication, organisational and time management skills
- Ability to motivate, engage and inspire learners from a range of backgrounds
Essential qualifications:
- Level 3 qualification in Fabrication and Welding or a relevant engineering discipline
- Significant industry experience within fabrication and welding
- Strong practical experience in welding MIG, MAG, TIG and MMA with relevant industry background
Desirable:
- Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one with employer support
- Assessor qualification such as A1, TAQA or CAVA
- Previous experience delivering apprenticeship standards or vocational qualifications
- Experience working within an education, training or apprenticeship setting
Salary and benefits:
- Salary £30,000 to £32,000 per annum
