We’re looking for a Technology Mentor who doesn’t just know tech — they live it.
You’ll work alongside young adult learners (YALs) to ignite curiosity, build real digital skills, and show them that technology isn’t just a subject: it’s a creative and career superpower.
- WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Design and deliver engaging, informal tech sessions tailored to learner interests, ability, and EHCP outcomes.
- Use gaming, hardware builds, AI tools, and coding projects as entry points for learning.
- Support learners to develop practical digital skills with real-world relevance — from basic computing to entry-level programming.
- Contribute to EOTAS/EHCP progress recording using AHT systems and tools.
- Collaborate with the education team, key workers, and external professionals around individual learner plans.
- Model a healthy, enthusiastic relationship with technology — including responsible use, online safety, and critical thinking.
- Adapt sessions dynamically: some days are structured, some are exploratory — read the room.
- Attend supervision, team meetings, and relevant CPD as required.
- WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Genuine, confident knowledge across several tech domains (see below).
- Ability to build rapport with young people who may have had difficult experiences in education.
- Patience, adaptability, and a non-judgemental approach.
- Clear communication — able to explain complex ideas simply.
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
- Commitment to safeguarding and KCSIE principles.
- Experience working with SEND, EOTAS, alternative provision, or care-experienced young people.
- Formal qualifications in computing, IT, or related field (or equivalent self-taught credibility).
- Experience mentoring, tutoring, or youth work.
- Familiarity with EHCP targets and provision mapping.
- First Aid certificate.
