The company is a specialist services provider to an international niche market space where there is little or no direct competition within the UK. The business has grown since its inception and is now at a point where deep routed plans are in place to take the business to the next level. Historically the accounts/bookkeeping duties have been covered by the managing director's PA, however as the company has grown, they have become increasingly stretched. The plan is to hire a specific management accountant who can relieve them of their accounting duties so that they can move back into an office management capacity. The role holder will report into the managing director and will be solely responsible for the accounting function. As the company grows, this position will do as well and could ultimately result in a director of finance role.
The Responsibilities:
The purpose of this role is to provide robust financial information to the management team for commercial decision making. In addition to this, we are looking for an individual to ensure that all aspects of the finance function are completed from payables, receivables, payroll to month end reporting, management accounts preparation and cash flow forecasting. On a day-to-day basis you can expect to be responsible for the following:
- Full control and ownership of the general ledger, ensuring that invoices are processed and paid within agreed supplier terms.
- Ownership of the monthly payroll ensuring that all relevant documentation is processed and employees are paid on time.
- Lead the financial planning within the business.
- Preparation of monthly management accounts/management reports.
- Work closely with the managing director in the financial planning around specific growth plans/provide commercial decision support.
- Management of budgets, costs and general cash flow.
The Requirements:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive accountant who will be either CIMA or ACCA qualified or part qualified. The environment is rural within Perthshire so candidates will need to drive and have access to a vehicle. The culture within the business is akin to a family feel and all employees work hard and are handsomely rewarded. The business has bought land recently and are planning to physically expand the business. As such we would be keen to see applicants who can showcase financial controls competencies. The ERP used is Xero so prior experience with the software would be advantageous. Advanced Excel reporting skills are also beneficial. Our client does not hold a license to offer study support so will only consider applicants who are able to work unrestricted within the UK and who are based in the immediate vicinity.
