This vacancy is maternity cover contract which is scheduled to last for approximately 12 months; however, our client has strongly indicated that this role could become a permanent role.

Reporting into the head of finance, the commercial financial analyst will work in a small sub team within finance and be office based 50% of the time.

The Responsibilities

The purpose of this role is to work with the commercial and sales teams in providing core financial information that will enable good decision making in relation to commercial deals. You will be in a forward-facing position where a high degree of your role will be interacting with various stakeholders internally. You will be using power BI tools and advanced excel models to produce financial data that will have first class impact on the business.

On a day-to-day basis you can expect to be responsible for the following:

  • Review daily/weekly revenue, costs, margins, and KPIs
  • Compare actuals vs budget / forecast
  • Identify variances and explain:
    • Why sales dropped/rise
    • Cost overruns
    • Margin changes
  • Investigate business questions like:
    • “Should we enter this new market?”
    • “Which product line is most profitable?”
    • “Is this customer contract worth it?”
  • Revenue & Sales Models:
    • Volume × price analysis
    • Customer-level profitability
    • Scenario analysis (best/worst case)
    • Monthly rolling forecasts
  • Driver-based models:
    • Units sold
    • Price per unit
    • Customer growth
  • Dashboard Creation
    • Build interactive dashboards showing:
      • Revenue trends
      • Profitability by product/customer
      • KPI tracking
  • Example dashboards:
    • Sales performance by region
    • Margin waterfall charts
    • Monthly trend analysis

The Requirements

We are seeking a highly detail orientated commercial finance analyst who has a proven track record of working within a complex and highly dynamic environment. You will be using financial modelling tools/power BI to produce meaningful reports. You will also be expected to work closely with key stakeholders within finance, customer service and credit control so advanced IT/analytical skills are essential, as is the ability to forge strong relationships with internal colleagues. As such, excellent communication skills in verbal and written form are vital.

Our client does not hold a license to offer study support so will only consider applicants who are able to work unrestricted within the UK and who are based in the immediate vicinity.
