The Company Able Bridge Recruitment are working with a charitable organisation in Edinburgh in the recruitment of a finance and operations manager on a permanent basis.

This role will report directly into the board and will form part of our client’s leadership team. You will be given the autonomy to complete the required tasks and you will be afforded flexibility in your working schedule, however our client also expects the same to be given in return.
Responsibilities
- The purpose of this role is to provide first‑in‑class accounting services to the whole organisation. You will be the sole accounting professional within the organisation and, as such, you will be the subject matter expert for all things finance.
- Taking an active part in the leadership team, you will be challenging your peers and collectively driving the organisation forwards.
- Ownership and responsibility of the month‑end process including reporting financial position to the SLP, project teams and the board of trustees.
- Working with stakeholders internally in respect to budgeting and forecasting, ensuring that key colleagues are aware of their financial responsibilities.
- Assisting and supporting the organisation in project claims, grant requests and funding bids/proposals on a monthly and quarterly basis.
- Building financial models to aid in the smooth forecasting of future revenue and expenditure.
- Oversight of the charity’s payroll process.
- Co‑ordination of the yearly audit.
- Day‑to‑day transactional finance duties such as reconciliation of bank accounts, processing and posting of invoices, supplier/grant queries.
- Presentation of financial matters to the board as well as hosting the finance committee.
Requirements
- Ideally, we would like a finance manager who is professionally qualified; however our client has indicated that they would consider a candidate who is either working towards a full qualification or someone who is qualified by experience.
- Candidates must have a minimum of five years of experience in a similar finance management role, ideally within a not‑for‑profit organisation.
- This role will involve a high level of interaction with colleagues internally and some interaction with stakeholders externally.
- Exemplary communication skills in written and verbal form are vital.
- Our client has a refreshing approach to flexible working, however with this comes the need to be self‑starting and self‑motivated.
- Our client does not hold a licence to offer study support so will only consider applicants who are able to work unrestricted within the UK and who are based within commutable distance to Edinburgh.
