The Company Able Bridge Recruitment are thrilled to be working with an independent firm of chartered accountants who have enjoyed sustainable growth over the past 3 years. The growth has come as the organisation have consistently delivered for their clients and have gone beyond expectations. This vacancy, the result of growth, will report into the senior client manager. The role will be office based (Stirlingshire), and you can expect to work in a busy, supportive and collegiate environment.
The Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for a portfolio of clients
- Process sales and purchase invoices, receipts, and payments
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and other control accounts
- Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with HMRC requirements and Making Tax Digital (MTD)
- Ensure compliance with current UK accounting standards and tax regulations
- Assist in responding to HMRC queries where required
- Assist in the preparation of year-end accounts
- Support accountants with working papers and reconciliations
- Identify discrepancies and resolve queries efficiently
- Use cloud-based accounting platforms (Xero & FreeAgent)
- Support client onboarding to digital systems where necessary
- Ensure data accuracy across multiple systems
The Requirements
- We are seeking an experienced and confident bookkeeper who is based in the Stirlingshire region with experience of either Xero or FreeAgent or ideally both.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience within an accounting firm is preferred; however, we are open to candidates who have experience within industry.
- Attention to detail and a conscientious mindset are critical competencies for the successful applicant.
- You will be working within a small team of accounting professionals where teamwork is a default.
- Our client does not hold a license to offer study support, so will only consider applicants who are able to work unrestricted within the UK and who are based in the immediate vicinity.
