Job Purpose: Working as a Healthy Lifestyle Advisor on ABL’s Specialist Weight Management Programme, you will be working with adults to support, motivate and advise those who are currently overweight or obese. You will be passionate about working with individuals to begin the life changing processes necessary for permanent and continued weight loss and weight maintenance. You will be joining a large team of behaviour change specialists in ABL Health including Nutritionists, Dietitians, GP’s, Psychotherapists and Exercise Specialists to deliver evidence based, holistic and realistic weight management to people in the community. You will understand challenges and barriers that adults face with relation to their health (both physical and mental) and wellbeing. You will engage with and build a good rapport with adults from varying communities across N.E Lincolnshire/N Lincolnshire. You will deliver our existing programmes of weight management as well as supporting the development of new nutrition and exercise programmes that meet the needs of our clients. The ideal candidate will be passionate about promoting healthy lifestyles and delivering motivational change which is client centered. You will have a background in nutrition, exercise, public health, community health and adult weight management. The candidate should be an excellent team player and have a willingness to learn and develop. At ABL Health we don’t believe in diets but promote long term sustainable change which focuses on evidence-based principles of healthy living.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The postholder will be responsible for delivering ABL Health’s adult weight management programme, incorporating nutrition education, behaviour change strategies, and exercise sessions to both groups and individuals, in-person and via digital platforms such as Teams or phone appointments.
  • They will lead multi-disciplinary assessments alongside ABL’s GP and Psychotherapist to create tailored, person-centred care plans.
  • Using evidence-based approaches aligned with ABL’s programme curriculum, they will support clients through a client-centred lens, utilising motivational interviewing and positive psychology techniques.
  • The role includes monitoring client progress using tools such as Microsoft Excel, supporting referrals to Tier 4 bariatric services in accordance with NICE guidance, and co-producing in-session materials with clients and stakeholders.
  • Additional responsibilities involve contributing case studies for performance reporting, supporting ABL’s social media content, and delivering live webinars on nutrition topics.
  • The postholder will engage in SMART goal setting, maintain accurate and up-to-date records, develop and deliver curriculum resources, and participate in promotional events.
  • They will attend and contribute to internal meetings, undertake all mandatory training, and support ongoing service development.
  • The role requires effective workload management, commitment to continuous professional development, adherence to clinical governance standards, and the ability to work from a quiet, private home environment while also travelling flexibly across the project area.
