An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Risk Control Officer to join an established financial services organisation on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. This role sits within the second line of defence and offers meaningful involvement in strengthening Operational Risk and Third Party Risk Management frameworks, with direct exposure to senior stakeholders and enterprise‑wide risk initiatives.
The Role
You will support the enhancement and embedding of the Operational Risk Management Framework, with a strong focus on Third Party Risk Management (TPRM) in line with PRA SS2/21. Partnering closely with the first line of defence, you’ll provide oversight, review, and constructive challenge to ensure risks are identified, assessed and managed within appetite.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the design, enhancement and rollout of the Third Party Risk Management Framework
- Driving the end‑to‑end RCSA process, including workshops, assessments and tracking remediation actions
- Overseeing operational loss and near‑miss events, including root cause analysis and lessons learned
- Reviewing and challenging 1LoD risk profiles, controls and KRIs
- Supporting operational risk governance, including high‑quality reporting for senior management forums
- Monitoring adherence to the Operational Risk Appetite Statement
- Providing risk guidance and training across the business
About You
- Proven experience in Operational Risk and/or Third Party Risk within financial services
- Strong understanding of the Three Lines of Defence model
- Working knowledge of PRA/FCA regulatory expectations, particularly SS2/21
- Experience producing concise, insightful reports for senior stakeholders
- Confident communicator with the ability to challenge effectively and pragmatically
- Highly organised, detail‑focused and delivery‑oriented
