My client, a well-established international bank in London, is looking for a Mandarin Speaking Senior Infrastructure Engineer to take ownership of infrastructure architecture, BAU operations, and technical strategy across the organisation. This is a hands-on and leadership role, ideal for someone who enjoys both designing systems and keeping them running smoothly.

The Opportunity
This is not just a BAU role — you will play a key role in:
- Shaping the bank’s IT infrastructure roadmap and architecture strategy
- Acting as a technical decision-maker across infrastructure, systems, and platforms
- Driving stability, scalability, and regulatory compliance across all IT environments
- Leading a small team while also remaining hands-on in critical technical areas
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Architecture & Strategy
- Own and define the end-to-end IT infrastructure framework, covering: Servers, storage, databases, Network and security, Applications and monitoring systems
- Design and implement future-state architecture solutions aligned with business growth and regulatory requirements
- Identify gaps in current systems and drive continuous improvement initiatives
BAU Operations & Stability
- Oversee day-to-day IT infrastructure operations, ensuring high availability of all critical systems
- Troubleshoot and resolve business-critical incidents under tight SLAs
- Monitor system performance and ensure optimal capacity and resource utilisation
IT Governance & Regulatory Compliance
- Maintain infrastructure controls in line with Head Office standards, UK regulatory expectations, and industry frameworks such as ITIL and COBIT
- Ensure all infrastructure solutions meet security, audit, and compliance requirements
Disaster Recovery & Risk Management
- Define and implement Disaster Recovery (DR) strategy and solutions
- Ensure infrastructure resilience and business continuity planning
- Proactively manage risks across infrastructure and systems
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead and mentor infrastructure team members
- Allocate BAU vs project workload to support team development
- Work closely with internal stakeholders, vendors, and external partners
Projects & Continuous Improvement
- Lead or contribute to infrastructure upgrade, migration, and optimisation projects
- Conduct feasibility studies and recommend improvements across systems
- Support application and system integration projects from an infrastructure perspective
Requirements
- 7–10 years’ experience across IT infrastructure (ideally within financial services or regulated environments)
- Strong technical expertise across: VMware / virtualisation, Windows Server & Active Directory, Network infrastructure, Storage & backup solutions
- Solid understanding of IT security and governance
- Hands-on experience with SQL Server administration & scripting
- Certifications such as CCNA / MCSE / VCP are highly desirable
- Strong communication skills with ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Mandarin speaking is preferred (frequent communication with Head Office)
