My client, a respected law firm is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant with solid law firm experience and a deep understanding of SRA audits. They aren’t just a legal practice they value financial rigor as much as they do a supportive, collaborative culture. They need an Accountant who can keep their financial operations running smoothly while navigating the unique compliance requirements of the legal sector, especially SRA audits.

Responsibilities

  • Proven accounting experience within a law firm and good understands the nuances of legal finance, from client billing to trust account management.
  • Strong familiarity with SRA audit processes and compliance standards and confidently support audit preparations, organize financial documentation, and address audit-related queries.
  • Solid accounting fundamentals proficiency in managing financial records, reconciling accounts, and preparing financial reports (Excel skills are a must, and experience with legal accounting software is a bonus).
  • Detail-oriented and organized thrives on accuracy, especially when it comes to regulatory compliance and financial documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with lawyers, office managers, and external auditors, so clear verbal and written communication is key.

Requirement:

  • Manage the firm’s day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and trust account oversight (critical for legal sector compliance).
  • Lead the preparation and coordination of SRA audits gathering required financial documents, ensuring compliance with SRA regulations, and liaising with external auditors throughout the process.
  • Prepare accurate financial reports (monthly, quarterly, annual) to support the firm’s decision-making and regulatory obligations.
  • Maintain up-to-date and compliant financial records, ensuring all transactions are properly documented and categorized.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve financial queries, optimize accounting workflows, and ensure cross-departmental alignment on compliance.
  • Join in on team-building activities to foster a positive, connected workplace culture.
