This is a hands-on infrastructure engineering role focused on VMware, HPE servers, EMC storage, VDI environments, and enterprise network infrastructure within a highly secure banking environment. My client, an international bank in London, is looking for an experienced Infrastructure Project Engineer to support the expansion and enhancement of its internal IT infrastructure environment. If you have strong experience across virtualization, storage, server infrastructure and enterprise support this could be an excellent opportunity to join a stable and growing banking technology team.

Contract: 12 months FTC

Location: City of London

Work style: 100% office based

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deploy and manage HPE server and EMC storage cluster environments
  • Configure and maintain VMware vSphere / ESXi infrastructure
  • Support VMware Horizon VDI setup, user management and gold image upgrades
  • Monitor server, storage and virtualized infrastructure performance
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure, storage, networking and VDI-related issues
  • Configure virtual switches, firewall rules and network routing
  • Support Windows Server, Active Directory and backup solutions
  • Work closely with infrastructure, network and operations teams on project delivery and BAU support
  • Participate in system upgrades, firmware updates and maintenance activities
  • Support automation and scripting initiatives (PowerShell / Ansible etc.)
  • Participate in out-of-hours maintenance and on-call support when required

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of infrastructure engineering experience
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • HPE Servers
    • EMC Storage
    • VMware vSphere / ESXi
    • VMware Horizon VDI
    • Windows Server & Active Directory
  • Experience with enterprise networking and virtualization technologies
  • Knowledge of backup, storage and information security environments
  • VMware / CCNA / MCSE certifications highly advantageous
  • Experience within banking or regulated environments preferred
  • Mandarin speaking ability preferred but not essential
  • Ability to work independently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
