My client is seeking a motivated Assistant Credit Analyst to join their dynamic team in London. This role offers a fantastic chance to contribute to critical credit risk management processes while supporting the growth of corporate banking operations. Responsibilities:
  • Credit analysis & credit submissions
  • Produce well-structured credit analysis and recommendations for a portfolio of corporate clients (annual reviews and new requests).
  • Prepare credit applications, internal credit ratings and supporting analysis packs for Relationship Managers and Credit Committee processes.
  • For transactions exceeding local approval authority, prepare materials to a standard suitable for both local and head-office credit committees, including bilingual documentation where required.
  • Perform financial statement analysis, sector/peer research, and financial modelling to support credit decisions.
  • Portfolio monitoring & post-drawdown management
  • Monitor credit portfolio performance and identify deterioration risks driven by counterparty-specific or broader market developments.
  • Track and manage post-drawdown conditions including covenant monitoring, review timetables, waivers, and documentation/compliance follow-ups.
  • Maintain robust diary controls to ensure timely reviews, covenant checks and escalation of key issues.
  • Limits, governance & controls
  • Monitor adherence to approved credit limits and promptly escalate any material excesses to senior stakeholders.
  • Support the maintenance and improvement of credit risk controls, systems and procedures to meet internal standards, regulatory expectations and external audit requirements.
  • Maintain awareness of relevant UK and international credit market trends and events influencing credit quality.
  • Stakeholder partnership
  • Act as a key partner to Relationship Managers and internal Risk colleagues to balance client development with effective risk management.
  • Provide reliable, business-focused administrative and analytical support to help the department meet its objectives.
Requirements:
  • 2+ years’ experience (or equivalent) producing and presenting credit analysis within a Commercial, Corporate, or Investment Banking environment.
  • Strong technical credit capability including:
  • Financial statement analysis
  • Sector/market research
  • Financial modelling
  • Working knowledge of corporate banking products from a credit risk perspective (e.g., overdrafts, term loans, syndicated lending, cash management, guarantees, letters of credit).
  • Excellent attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, and strong follow-through on outstanding items.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present analysis clearly and confidently.
  • Educated to degree level.
  • Desirable (nice to have)
    • Exposure to large corporate clients and multi-sector credit work (generalist approach).
    • Formal credit or accounting qualifications (or progress towards).
    • Mandarin (written and/or spoken), particularly for bilingual credit committee materials.
