Overview

An exciting opportunity within the Be U Swindon Mental Health Support Team for a Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP). This employment-based training role is part of the NHSE, HEE, and DOH initiative to expand the mental health workforce offering support to children and young people at a stage of early intervention. The successful post-holder will work within Be U Swindon as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering, under supervision, high-quality; outcome-informed, focused, evidence-based interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate anxiety, low mood and behavioural difficulties.

The training and service experience will equip the post holder with the necessary knowledge, attitude and capabilities to operate effectively from a values-driven context within the wider service. The post holder will attend all university-based taught and self-study days required by the education provider, as specified within the agreed curriculum, and work in the service for the remaining days of the week using their newly developed skills.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver evidence-based interventions to children and young people with mild to moderate mental health difficulties, working closely with families, schools, and professionals to support self-management and positive outcomes.
  • Undertake assessments, manage risk, maintain accurate records, and participate in supervision and training to continually develop skills.
  • Adhere to professional standards, safeguarding legislation, and data protection policies, while contributing to service development and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant guidelines and best practices.
