Working with children and young people's (CYP) emotional needs across all elements of the iTHRIVE model. This diverse and exciting role delivers a range of interventions to CYP at various stages of their emotional recovery and safety needs. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary community team, you will work on a rotational basis across the community day & educational provisions as well as the urgent need Haven365 Service including working across days, evenings, weekends & bank holidays.

Join our dedicated Be U Swindon team and make a real difference in the lives of children and young people by providing vital emotional and mental health support across both our Haven evening service and daytime community hubs. In this varied role, you'll lead urgent interventions for CYP in crisis, delivering rapid assessments, safety planning, and emotional support in collaboration with partners such as Police, Ambulance, Emergency Departments, and CAMHS. You'll play a key role in de-escalating challenging situations, managing immediate risks, and ensuring safe, compassionate follow-up care that promotes stability and recovery.

Alongside this, you'll support children within community and educational settings, offering therapeutic interventions, wellbeing sessions, and tailored care plans aligned with the iTHRIVE model. Working closely with families, schools, and community partners, you'll help build understanding, resilience, and long-term wellbeing for young people. As part of your leadership responsibilities, you'll manage a small team of Emotional Wellbeing Practitioners, coordinate rotas, support recruitment, and contribute to the continuous development of our services. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting the mental and emotional well-being of CYP within our community. This position involves providing direct urgent mental health services, collaborating with families, emergency services, CAMHS, schools, and community organisations, and contributing to a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment for young people.

The ideal candidate will have experience in providing direct urgent need mental health support, a strong understanding of the challenges faced by young people, and effective responses to behaviours that challenge and de-escalation techniques, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, compassionate care.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead support and provide direct urgent emotional support for CYP presenting significant critical safety needs and behaviours that challenge.
  • Conduct rapid assessments of referred CYP against service inclusion/exclusion criteria in liaison with Police, Ambulance, ED and CAMHS.
  • Implement immediate mood regulation interventions and emotional support for CYP experiencing urgent mental health issues.
  • Develop and implement follow-up care plans, including referrals to appropriate mental health services.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, ensuring all interventions and plans are thoroughly documented.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in mental health care.
  • Support Service Lead in managing the service and leading shifts.
  • Manage a small team of Emotional Well-Being Practitioners including line management.
  • Provide guidance and support to families and caregivers, helping them understand and effectively respond to the mental health needs of their children.

Strong urgent intervention, de-escalation and risk assessment skills are essential. Understanding of emergency and urgent services and effective collaboration to mitigate risks is required.
