Working as a Healthy Lifestyle Advisor on ABL's specialist and targeted weight management programme Your Health Stockport, you will be working with adults and/or families to support, motivate and advise those who are currently overweight or obese. You will be passionate about working with individuals to begin the life-changing processes necessary for permanent and continued weight loss and weight maintenance.
You will be joining a large team of behaviour change specialists in ABL Health including Specialist Healthy Lifestyle Advisors, nutritionists, dietitians, GPs, psychotherapists and exercise specialists to deliver evidence-based, holistic and realistic weight management to people in the community. You will understand challenges and barriers that adults face with relation to their health (both physical and mental) and wellbeing. You will engage with and build a good rapport with adults from varying communities across Oldham.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering ABL Health's adult and family weight management programmes in community settings.
- Providing group and one-to-one sessions focused on nutrition, physical activity, behaviour change and exercise in line with NICE guidelines.
- Carrying out client-centred assessments and managing a caseload of clients.
- Supporting individuals using motivational interviewing and SMART goal setting to achieve sustainable lifestyle changes.
- Maintaining accurate records and completing administrative tasks in line with policies and procedures.
- Contributing to the development of programme resources and completing required training.
- Working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to support healthier behaviours such as improved diet, increased physical activity, alcohol reduction and smoking cessation.
- Delivering existing programmes of weight management and supporting the development of new nutrition and exercise programmes that meet the needs of our clients.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about promoting healthy lifestyles and delivering motivational change which is client-centred. You will have a background in nutrition, exercise, public health, community health or adult and/or family weight management and be an excellent team player with a willingness to learn and develop.
