The purpose of ABLs Be U Norfolk Service is to provide assessments for adults on the autism diagnostic pathway via the NHS.

Main duties of the job

  • Delivering high-quality autism assessments for adults across Norfolk.
  • Supporting the diagnostic process using tools such as ADOS‑2 (training provided).
  • Screening referrals and contributing to personalised care plans.
  • Producing clear diagnostic reports for clients, families, and professionals.
  • Maintaining accurate records and outcome measures.
  • Managing caseload updates and delivering assessments in appropriate settings.
  • Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to provide information and support to clients, carers, and relevant professionals.
  • Contributing to integrated care pathways, service development, delegated projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitoring practice against professional standards and reporting any service delivery issues.
  • Attending mandatory training and professional meetings.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of policies and evidence-based practice.
  • Engaging in supervision and reflective practice.
  • Supporting the development of others.
  • Participating in audits, quality assurance programmes, and research activities at local and regional level.

Person Specification

  • Professional qualification and registered with a professional body, such as Mental Health Nurse, Adult/Child Nurse, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Play Therapy, SENDCO, etc.
  • ADOS and ADIr certification.

Experience

  • Experience with adults who have complex communication, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
  • Experience in administering and reporting ADOS and ADIr assessments.
  • Experience of work within mental health settings or other healthcare settings.
  • Experience in conducting autism assessments.

Other duties may be undertaken as reasonably required to support the Be U Norfolk service.
