This is a rewarding, hands‑on role where you’ll make a real difference every day. ABL Health has expanded the Healthy Lifestyle Service Gloucestershire with a new Tobacco Dependency Outreach Service focused on supporting people across Gloucestershire from priority communities to stop smoking, improve wellbeing, and make long‑term, sustainable changes.
Main Duties
- Motivating, empowering and supporting clients to make positive behavioural changes to address smoking addiction.
- Delivering evidence‑based stop‑smoking interventions one‑to‑one, in community settings, group sessions, telephone and online support, and peer support groups.
- Recommending and supporting the use of appropriate nicotine replacement therapies (NRT) and other aids.
- Engaging and recruiting clients at community and promotional events.
- Managing an active caseload and ensuring continuity of care.
- Collaborating with partner professionals to embed smoking cessation into routine care.
- Maintaining accurate, confidential and compliant records, supporting risk‑management and safeguarding processes, and contributing to service monitoring and improvement.
- Participating in regular service meetings, training and supervision.
Person Specification
- Higher‑level education in health improvement, public health, social care or related fields, and/or experience working within smoking cessation, addiction or behaviour‑change interventions.
- Knowledge of behaviour‑change models and ability to apply them in practice.
- Experience engaging with key community partners.
- Experience working in community settings with priority groups.
- Experience prioritising and managing an independent caseload.
- Experience developing and delivering training to target audiences.
- Knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable adults.
- Understanding of national guidance and ability to disseminate research and best practice.
