ABL 1 Touch are a market leading vehicle repair business since 1994, working in partnership with insurance companies. ABL 1 Touch prides itself not only in the quality of its work but in providing excellent customer service.

As a Panel Beater, you will ensure the repair of motor vehicles of all types is carried out to motor manufacturer industry standards or repair methods.

Responsibilities of a Panel Beater will include:

  • Strip and refit parts where necessary, ensuring proper panel alignment and adjustments.
  • Identify and report any damage not included in the original job scope.
  • Assess and report on vehicle structure and paintwork.
  • Ensure completed vehicles comply with safety standards.
  • Handle the safe removal and storage/disposal of vehicle components, fluids, and gases.
  • Complete quality control inspections and sign-offs at each repair stage.
  • Follow repair methods (e.g. e-scribe, manufacturer guidance) and ensure they are visible on the job.
  • Use protective coverings (seat covers, foot mats) on all vehicles.
  • Perform filler repairs to a P180 finish, checking for pinholes.
  • Apply underseal, weld-through primers, and anti-corrosion treatments as required.
  • Maintain tools and equipment, and report any defects to your line manager.

Skills and experience required as a Panel Beater:

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Motor manufacturer’s qualifications and experience
  • Undertake training courses as required
  • Driving licence
  • Current AOM009 welding certificate or BS equivalent
  • Training in mig braze, spot welding, rivet and bonding, high strength and Boron steel awareness.
  • Light MET qualification linked to ATA.
  • Bonding certification
  • Full UK Driving licence.
  • Team Player who uses initiative, be flexible and have a can-do attitude.
  • Cultural and organisational insight and takes responsibility for own actions.
