Abingdon School is seeking a Cleaning Supervisor to join the team.
Location: Park Road, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, OX14 1DE
Job Type: Part Time, Permanent
Salary: £10,061.63 based on working 15 hours a week (0.3623 FTE)
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday 05:30 - 08:30 am (15 hours per week) term time plus (44 weeks per year)

About Us: The Foundation comprises two schools: Abingdon School and Abingdon Prep School, as well as Abingdon School Enterprises. Abingdon School is a leading independent day and boarding school with more than 1,000 pupils aged 11-18. Currently a boys school, it will become co-educational from September 2026. Abingdon Prep School is a vibrant and warm day preparatory school with around 200 pupils aged 4-13 which has been co-educational since last year. Both Schools are situated in beautiful and extensive grounds, with the senior school in the heart of Abingdon on Thames, just south of Oxford, and the Prep School located a few miles away in nearby Frilford.
Cleaning Supervisor - The Role:
Abingdon Schools friendly and efficient housekeeping team has vacancies for a Cleaning Supervisor. The successful candidate will be organised, punctual, reliable and flexible with the ability to manage their time effectively in order to deliver a high standard of cleanliness. Experience in a similar supervisory role would be an advantage.
Cleaning Supervisor - Key Responsibilities:
- Clean school areas to high standards, including bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, classrooms, and communal spaces
- Perform deep cleaning, bed making, and waste disposal as required
- Use and maintain cleaning equipment and supplies safely and effectively
- Follow health, safety, and school policies; report maintenance or welfare issues
- Supervise and support cleaning staff, including training, scheduling, and performance feedback
- Assist with operational tasks, stock control, and liaising with Head of Housekeeping
Cleaning Supervisor - You:
- Experienced in general cleaning duties, with strong attention to detail and awareness of health and safety standards
- Reliable, punctual, and able to manage time effectively, prioritise tasks, and work independently or as part of a team
- Strong communication skills, able to follow instructions, guide staff, and listen to feedback
- Committed to equality, diversity, inclusion, and safeguarding, valuing the perspectives and needs of others
- Basic IT proficiency and willingness to undertake additional training as required
- Understanding of the importance of customer service and maintaining high standards in all aspects of work
