The Legal Team provides legal advice, litigation support, training, and broader legal services across the organisation’s regulatory functions. As a Lawyer within the team, you will deliver high-quality, timely, and pragmatic legal advice across a broad range of areas. While the role covers general advisory work, there will be a particular focus on commercial contracts, data protection, and regulatory compliance. You will play a key role in managing legal risk and enabling informed, confident decision-making across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clear, pragmatic, and solution-focused legal advice across operational, policy, and governance matters
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, agreements, and memoranda of understanding
  • Advise on procurement processes and compliance requirements
  • Provide guidance on data protection, privacy, and information governance
  • Support on public law, administrative, and regulatory matters
  • Develop and maintain internal policies, templates, and guidance
  • Contribute to the delivery of legal training across the organisation
  • Maintain legal records, filing systems, and support budget tracking where required

Risk Management and Compliance

  • Identify and assess legal risks, supporting early mitigation

  • Build strong working relationships across the organisation and with external stakeholders

Person Specification

  • Qualified solicitor, barrister, or equivalent with a current practising certificate or eligibility to obtain one
  • Strong general advisory legal experience, ideally within a public, regulatory, or commercial environment
  • Experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and advising on procurement
  • Good understanding of data protection, privacy, and information law
  • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
