This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded lawyer looking to broaden their in house experience across a wide range of legal disciplines.
Working as part of a collaborative legal team, you'll provide pragmatic, solutions focused advice to colleagues across the organisation on a variety of operational and strategic matters.
The role offers exposure to commercial contracts, procurement, governance, data protection, employment and equality law, as well as opportunities to support organisational projects, policy development and wider business initiatives.
Key responsibilities Providing clear, practical legal advice across a broad range of commercial and corporate matters.
Reviewing, drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and advising on procurement matters.
Advising on governance, data protection, employment and equality law issues.
Supporting the development and review of organisational policies, procedures and governance frameworks.
Identifying legal risks and providing pragmatic solutions to mitigate them.
Supporting litigation matters, including employment tribunal and civil claims where required.
Working collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to provide commercially focused legal advice.
Contributing to strategic projects, organisational change programmes and policy development.
Delivering legal training and promoting legal awareness across the organisation.
Supporting continuous improvement within the legal function by developing guidance, templates and best practice.
About you You'll be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive with experience providing in house or advisory legal services.
You'll also bring: Experience advising on one or more of commercial contracts, procurement, data protection or employment law.
Excellent drafting and analytical skills with the ability to provide practical, risk based legal advice.
The ability to build strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
Experience managing competing priorities and working independently.
A collaborative approach with a genuine interest in supporting organisational objectives.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex legal issues in a clear and practical way.
Experience gained within the public sector, professional regulation, higher education, housing, healthcare, local government or the not for profit sector would be advantageous but is not essential.
