About the Role

We are seeking a Teacher and Assistant SENCo to deliver a 50% timetable in English across secondary age groups and a 50% timetable in SENCo responsibilities.

Teaching Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver English lessons from Key Stage 2, 3 and 4 in small, mixed‑age classes (typically up to 10 students).
  • Work with the multidisciplinary team to support holistic outcomes for students.
  • Integrate therapeutic approaches into lessons, routines and interactions with students.
  • Receive regular CPD and collaborate closely with the therapy team to apply therapeutic strategies consistently.

SENCo Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and monitor Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), annual reviews (including leading meetings), and provision mapping to ensure timely and effective support.
  • Liaise with Local Authorities regarding changes to EHCPs, provision, and pupil placements.
  • Liaise with parents regarding changes to EHCPs, provision, and pupil placements.
  • Oversee the creation, implementation, and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with staff and families.
  • Work closely with teaching and support staff to ensure personalised support strategies are consistently and effectively applied.
  • Be a member of the intervention team and support the planning, delivery and analysis of data of intervention programmes that align with pupils' EHCP needs and outcomes.
  • Lead on the completion, administration, analysis, and communication of academic standardised assessments for the caseload to inform planning and progress tracking.
  • Contribute to staff training and development, building confidence and expertise in SEN education and ensuring effective delivery of EHCP provision across the school.

Essential Qualifications

  • Secondary trained in English with QTS.
  • Flexible, creative and passionate about student‑centred learning.

  • Experience in contributing effectively to Annual Review paperwork and IEPs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the SEN Code of Practice.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the needs of children with SEN.

  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team.
  • Proficiency in using email, internet and computers for administrative tasks.
