We are looking for a dedicated and supportive Student Advisor to join our Student Engagement Team at our Witney and Common Leys Campuses. Our team provides essential services to prospective and current students, including Information, Advice and Guidance, Wellbeing Support, Financial Support, Safeguarding, Student Voice, and Front‑of‑House services.
As a Student Advisor, you will report to the Safeguarding Manager and play a key role in offering high‑quality wellbeing and safeguarding support. You will work collaboratively across the College and with external agencies to ensure students receive the holistic support they need to thrive, feel safe, and succeed in their studies.
Key responsibilities:- Provide wellbeing support to students, helping them manage personal, emotional, and mental health challenges.
- Advise on safeguarding and Prevent concerns, ensuring appropriate decisions, escalation, and record‑keeping.
- Manage your own caseload and actively participate in review meetings.
- Record and collate information accurately to support compliance and measure service impact.
- Participate in Child Protection, Child in Need, and Team Around the Family meetings when required.
- Develop and deliver wellbeing initiatives that respond to student needs and emerging issues.
- Oversee a caseload of children we care for and chair Personal Education Plan (PEP) meetings with relevant stakeholders.
- Complete Risk Assessments, including for applicants with criminal convictions and for students already enrolled.
- Work closely with staff across the College to ensure consistent and effective student support.
- A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.
- Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusive practice.
- Experience in planning, scheduling, and managing workload effectively.
- Ability to analyse and interpret data and produce accurate reports.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to record information clearly and promptly.
- Ability to work effectively with students of all abilities, including those who are vulnerable or may display challenging behaviours.
- Ability to travel between College sites and work flexibly as needed.
- A qualification in teaching, youth work, social work, healthcare, or a related area.
- Experience or knowledge of working with specific groups such as Young Adult Carers, Looked After Children, or behaviour support needs.
